SPECIFICATIONS Type A286 Stainless Steel is available as Sheet and Strip and is covered by the following specifications: AMS 5525 Sheet, Strip and Plate UNS : S66286 Similar Specifications AMS 5858 Sheet, Strip and Plate AMS 5731 and 5732 Bars, Wire, Forgings, Tubing and Rings AMS 5737 and 5734 Bars, Wire, Forgings and Tubing AMS 5804 and 5805 Welding Wire ASTM A638, ASTM A453 and ASME SA638
RESISTANCE TO OXIDATION and CORROSION Thanks to A 286 having a high nickel and chromium content it has good resistance to corrosion up to about 700°C (1300°F) and oxidation up to about 810°C (1500°F). Also A286 alloy is a iron-base material which can be age hardened to a high strength level. The alloy is also used for low temperature applications requiring a ductile, non-magnetic high strength material at temperatures ranging from above room temperature down to at least -195°C (-320°F). The alloy may be used for moderate corrosion applications in aqueous solutions.
