WS 1.2516 Silver Steel

 

Material Features:

This product is a steel for tools and die making part.  The high content of carbon grants a hardening to the core, even for bid diameters.  It is a steel for upper class tools: The low content of sulphur will allow the welding of this material.

 

Availability 

coils: Cold drawn + polished: 10-35kg/coil

Bars: Ø0-1.99mm: cold drawn and polished

Bars: Ø 2.00-40mm: cold drawn, ground and polished

Bar Lengths: 2m (3m) Surface roughness N5-N6 

 

Tensile Strength

about 750 N/mm2

 

Standard tolerances

Diameter : h8

Out of Roundness/eccentricity: 1/2 of dia tolerance

Tolerance in length: +/-30mm

 

Heat treatment

Hardening water :790-810 ºC above dia 10mm

Oil: 810-830 ºC above dia 10mm

Max obtainable hardness 64-66 HRC

 

Cutting rate

10-20m/min (approximate value, depending on the lubrication oil, the cutting tools, the shape of parts
